Summits of Canada Expedition

Central Cirque SummitsI came across this expedition which is sponsored by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society called the CanaTREK Summits of Canada Expedition. I think what they’re doing is really great, so I’d like to share it with you.

Essentially, the point of the expedition is to reach the tallest summit of each Canadian province. Like a Canadian version of the Seven Summits, except in our case it would be the 13 Summits! It started in June of 2006, and is still working it’s way across this vast, geographically diverse, country of ours. (more…)

Here we are once again

Mountain

Well, I’ve returned from my week on the Coast. I had a great time, and got to set my eyes once more on the beautiful Canadian Rockies. I got to see many things, and take many photos.

Now that I’m back, however, I find myself in a bit of a familiar situation. Some readers have been lamenting about the content of this blog. Specifically, that there is not enough actual 7 summit climbing going on to justify my depiction of this site as a blog about my ‘quest to climb the seven summits.’

Well, here my thoughts on the matter. Take what you like, and leave the rest. (more…)

Canada Post Issues 8 Mountain Stamps

News from the past…

Canada Post, in 2002, issued a series of eight moutain stamps to commemorate the achievements of Bernard Voyer. The stamps depict the seven tallest summits in the world, as well as the tallest summit in Canada; Mount Logan.

Since Bernard is a bit of a favourite for me (being the legendary Canadian explorer that he is), I thought this might be “post-worthy” despite being a few years old.

I wonder if I’ll still be able to get my hands on some? (more…)
