Please forgive the "default" theme. I'm currently in the process of giving the site an overdue redesign. The new look should be ready soon.

Vancouver is getting closer and closer

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

The trip is now a mere 9 days away! I can’t wait.

I have been doing a lot of looking around for stuff to do while I’m out there, but unfortunately a lot of the things I was looking forward to doing are closed; either due to the weather BC has been getting, or repairs/renovations. Things like the Vancouver Harbour Lookout, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, etc. All closed.

Hopefully Stanley Park will be open to the public by then. Also, I’m really looking forward to the Vancouver Aquarium.

I guess we’ll see!

We’re taking this show on the road!

It’s official, I’m off to Vancouver for the first week of Februrary!

I’m flying out for a Web Design conference. It’s going to be a ‘working trip’ but I still intend to have a lot of fun. I’ll get to see the coast, visit some of the sites, see lots of family that I hardly ever get to see. It’s going to be great!

I wanted to try and make it out to Whistler while I’m out there but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. I do, however, intend to get a little ‘adventure’ squeezed in during my time there. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What’s going on here?

Alright, you’ve no doubt noticed all the theme swapping in the last couple of days. Well, I’m still looking for something that will work exactly how I want it to. So far, I’m not doing too good.

I thought I could get by with K2. It’s powerful, and suposedly amazing, but I find it just too slow for my obsessively impatient self. I need simple pages that load quickly. (more…)

Sudbury climber, Meagan McGrath, to make Everest attempt

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

A young woman from my home town, Sudbury Ontario, is off to make a summit attempt on Everest.

29 year old Meagan McGrath has already climbed six of the Seven Summits via the Kosciuszko list. If she makes it, she will not only be the youngest Canadian woman to climb all seven summits (on the K list) but she will also be the first Canadian Forces member (male or female) to accomplish the feat.

I’m writing about this here not only because Meagan is from my home town, but also because Science North Science Centre (a place where I worked for 4 years) is sponsoring her, and putting together an exhibit about life on everest, and her attempt.

You can keep up with the adventure at either her sponsored page on the Science North site, her own site, or her blog.

Congratulations to Meagan, and I wish you the best of luck!
