Please forgive the "default" theme. I'm currently in the process of giving the site an overdue redesign. The new look should be ready soon.

Review: Outdoorzy.com

I came across Outdoorzy.com while reading The Adventure Blog (another great adventure site).

Outdoorzy is a site dedicated to anyone who loves to do anything outdoors. The tag line reads: “If you’ve ever been called ‘Outdoorzy,’ welcome home.”

It’s a place that you can use as your ‘home base’ for any and all of your outdoor adventures.

A real community

What makes Outdoorzy.com so much more than a regular “social networking” site is the people who use it. Outdoorzy provides a space where users, who share a common passion, can come together.

“Outdoorzy.com is the ultimate one-stop-shop for any outdoor enthusiast.”

Once you’ve created a profile you can upload photos, trip reports, gear lists/reviews, and participate in the forums. You can also view the things that others have posted. That makes it easy to find firsthand reviews of gear or future adventures. I’ve already found someone who has done Kilimanjaro, and found their trip report very interesting.

At the heart of this community are its founders. Upon signing up, I received what I thought to be the customary automated “welcome, _____ ” message from one of the co-founders. Once I read it, however, I discovered that it was not what I had expected.

Wade, one of the co-founders, had not only handwritten this message, but had taken the time to visit this site and read some of the posts.

Hi Dan, welcome to Outdoorzy.com!

I think your idea of being the youngest Canadian to climb the seven summits is awesome! I did Kilimanjaro last year and had thoughts of doing all 7, but it is a serious commitment. Keep Outdoorzy.com updated on your progress as you go. And by the way, great blog. […]

I thought that was a really nice touch.

As I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, I’m writing all this to encourage YOU to go check it out. I promise, you won’t be dissapointed.

    Daniel,
Thanks for the compliment on my blog, and I’m glad it directed you to Outdoorzy, where I’m having a good time as well. It’s a nice site with something to offer just about anyone who is into the outdoors. Great stuff.

Your site is very cool as well. I’m going to add it to my list of places to checkout on a regular basis, and I’ll be following your go at the Seven Summits. Good luck!
